Algernon is an associatively parametric 2D geometry calculator and CAD tool. Points, lines, and circles can be constructed with relationships between them and in terms of variables and mathematical formulae. If any one element or variable changes, the geometry is automatically recalculated. The geometry can be interrogated, dimensioned, inked, annotated with text, and printed (via AirPrint or e-mail export of PDF). Aimed primarily at engineers and mathematicians (both practising and studying) It is ideally suited for computing geometrical constructions, designing or checking mechanical details, architectural layouts, etc. Algernon does not need lots of drawing tools; it just needs one for each kind of element. It can automatically determine what kind of construction to create based upon where the user taps. This keeps the user interface clean, simple, and consistent, without restricting its sophistication. It may seem strange at first to those used to conventional CAD, but we believe it will be found natural after a short time. Within the maze are lumps of Kendal Mint Cake. Bernard has decided to collect these in case he meets any mountaineers in need. For some unfathomable reason he insists on going only clockwise around the maze. Around Bernard's neck is a barrel of sarsaparilla (his favourite drink). Unbeknownst to Bernard, the maze is a trap set by nasty sarsaparilla-guzzling monsters. They will trip him up and steal his barrel if they catch him (but don't worry, childrenhe's not hurt). General steelwork member design based upon Eurocode EN1993-1-1:2005 (EC3). The required input data is kept to a minimum to simplify the process. All calculations are presented so that the engineer can assess any assumptions and interpretations of the Standards and see why a member passes or fails the design, as well as facilitating cross-checking with other parties. The calculation sheet can be exported as PDF or printed via Airprint if available on your network. Calculation sheets can be saved for reuse. The app uses the standard iOS11+ document browser, making it easy to create, import, export, rename, copy, etc. A library of European and British steel sections is included, and custom sizes can be specified.
