Watch Tuner Timegrapher App DESCRIPTION

Watch Tuner Timegrapher is a mechanical (automatic or manual winding) watch testing application. It displays a frequency diagram of the watch and measures rate, beat error, amplitude and beats per hour.

The application uses the build-in or headset’s microphone to record audible ticks of the watch.

Use this application in a quiet environment. Any ambient noise can affect result accuracy. Complete silence is the best however noise cancelling algorithm can help to eliminate not very loud sounds. The recommended way to record the ticks is to touch the crown of the watch with the headset (earplugs) microphone.

If you don’t need the frequency diagram, look at Watch Tuner app.
If you want to test only the rate accuracy, try Watch Tuner Lite.

If you have any questions, suggestions or any troubles using this app – don’t hesitate to write me.

Track your watch accuracy
Twelve O’clock is an app that helps track your watch accuracy easily in a realistic way. I can’t stress this enough: it’s “tracking”, not measuring instantaneous accuracy like a timegrapher device. It’s a manual and oldschool job but it brings so much fun. It reminds me of the old days when I had to synchronize my watch to the clock on the TV at 7pm every day. With Twelve O'clock you can: MANAGE YOUR WATCH COLLECTION * Add, edit, remove any item in a list of your watch collection * Include a nice wristshot of each watch KNOW YOUR WATCH ACCURACY * Simply add some checkpoints and let the app calculate the accuracy in *second per day* * A nice chart of the accuracy over the time LEARN MORE ABOUT HOROLOGY * Curated content for watch lovers (like me)
Mechanical Watch Analyzer
Kello analyzes the precision of mechanical watches against the iOS system clock using a microphone. How Kello works: All mechanically regulated watches are designed to start and stop 1000s of times every hour. A portion of the energy used during this starting and stopping motion is released as acoustic energy, resulting in an audible "tick-tock" sound. The regularity of this sound can be measured against the more precise, internal time-signal of iOS devices, such as the iPhone, and the resulting difference in timekeeping is displayed by Kello. Supported Watch Frequencies: Kello can automatically determine the frequency of the watch being measured based on eight of the most common frequencies used in mechanical watches. These frequencies are standard among low-, middle- and high-grade mechanical timepieces and will accommodate the vast majority of mechanical watches produced in the past 100 years. The following frequencies are supported: * 14,400 bph * 16,200 bph * 18,000 bph * 19,800 bph * 21,600 bph * 25,200 bph * 28,800 bph * 36,000 bph Recommended hardware: Kello works best with an external microphone that has an..

App REVIEWS

Uncle

I’m guessing a lot of the less than 5 star reviews are because of mic issues. The software is only one part; you will need a good mic and most likely a preamplifier - that stuff is easy. Ultimately if you’re looking for a non-chinese weishi option(they are big and ugly as sh t) this is an excellent part of a diy setup!

cardioma..

This app works really well but it does take some experimentation to find the ideal settings and microphone placement. I’ve had good success with it, especially when working on a watch with the back cover off where the ticking sound is louder. The primary limitation of this app is the microphone. The developer may want to consider offering a dedicated microphone at an additional price.

Luigi528..

I spent 2 hours trying to get measurements for a Seiko automatic watch, while trying various combinations in the settings. I used the air pad pro microphone for the measurements . The best I could do was to get the amplitude which seemed reasonable, but the app stalled for the rate and the beat error, given me zero information. To say the least I’m disappointed that I paid $14 for something that’s not ready for prime time.

Stranger..

I’m literally in a sound room and my watch is making “too much noise”. I move the watch away. The app no longer detects it. 😂 This should be more like $1.99 and sold as a novelty rather than a precise instrument for measuring a watches accuracy. I love the idea but it needs some serious work.

Person

I love this app! I just started being a hobbyist watchmaker and this is the perfect app for someone who’s new like me. Instead of spending over $200 on a timegrapher, this app will get the job done for a fraction of the cost. Keep in mind it will never be as good as a dedicated timegrapher, but it’s a great start. It sometimes struggles with noise but using the tick detection noise canceling helps a lot. It also struggles with cased watches so measuring the movement outside the case is much better.

Old

It works. Had to tweak settings a bit. Already measured my watches error over 24 hours as -22s/day...this nailed it in a few seconds as -22.1-3.

gxalan

It can be very finicky for accurate detection depending on your watch. A modern Omega or Rolex is a great “control” since they have undergone -2/+2 or 0/+5 certification. You do need to manually turn on the mode to report the average rate if you plan to regulate your watches. I used it to take an El Primero that was losing as much as 20 seconds/day in one position and 5 seconds in another to being +/- 2 seconds in two different position. Removing the case back enhances the accuracy of the app considerably.

Oat

If used correctly, this app is very accurate and helpful. I had a good laugh at some of the negative reviews on here because a lot of them just sounded like user error. There is absolutely nothing wrong this app/software. I dialed up the sensitivity to 16/20 and it worked perfectly.

wdschell..

I own a Chinese Timegrapher and sometimes it doesn’t to the best job on some watches. This is a very handy app to compare readings to when I think something isn’t right with my main one. Definitely need to be in a quiet place and adjust the gain correctly to get the best reading.

xxxxxdan

I dont use facebook. Is a that the only path to getting support?

iphonegu..

Tried in completely quiet space, but always showing “too much noise”. Couldn’t get any reading neither via microphone nor using earbuds. Too bad..

booiiigg

This app works great. Seriously. But you have to follow the instructions, adjust the sensitivity and other settings, and go to a place that is QUIET. like completely silent. This is simply due to the fact the the iPhone mic is only so good at picking up your watch beat. Nothing the developer can do. It’s amazing that this app was even possible to make.

VanSupaV..

The app works.... when there is no outside noise and the phone is hold at certain angles. So basically I need a quiet room and awkwardly hold my phone at various angles for the microphone to work. I noticed that “noice reduction” makes the app less accurate but maybe it’s only my case.

HannaBay..

So I wanted to check if my SD43 has the amplitude issue ... saw couple of videos about the app ... with tweaking and right settings you can get a decent reading. So for Rolex I put the 28,800 beats and 55 lift angle off movement 3235 and tweaked how to position the Apple microphone under the watch ... tried few times until the sampling became excellent ... well it worked and got decent numbers including the spd (I am using another app for that) and it was close ... very happy ... thank you!

Aaap

Not the most accurate timegrapher, but certainly gets the job done. Its results are not same as when you actually measure over day. However the adjustment you can make are reliable. I.e. you measure with this app and it shows +2s/d. But in fact my watch was running +4. Then using the app I set it to -2s/d. Now my watch is running 0s/d. Does not work with back case on, you need to remove case.

jClabo

Everything looks good, but readings are very inconsistent. I’m going to continue doing some testing with various setups. But it’s currently looking as though it’s so inconsistent that it’s almost useless. I’ve been graphing the timing on my watch for a very long time manually. My watch and manual measurements have been very consistent. I know my watch is not going from +24 s/d to -8 s/d and everything in between that this app is telling me. My watch runs at +1.8 secs per day according to my charts I’ve been keeping manually now for 3 months. At 2 months, I predicted exactly what my watch would read one month later. It was spot on. So I know my watch doesn’t vary as much as this app says that it does. I’m going to keep trying though.

origami

Worked perfectly to regulate a Seiko 5! Easily got it from +22 seconds a day down to +2 seconds a day. You must use the app in a quiet place, on a stable surface and should also try multiple sensitivity levels to find what works best for you and your watch (14 worked well for my SNK381 and SNKL45 but needed 16 for my SKX013).

Slojack1..

Inaccurate and can’t even get the bph right on a Rolex. It shows 1200bph when it’s really 28,000. It takes 10 minutes to analyze the data and it’s still off on everything. I’m placing the earpod microphone by the crown and it’s quiet in the room. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is . Don’t waste your money on this app.

Berzerkd..

First of all I love this app! It’s great! Does this self calibrate off a time server to compensate for error in the quartz crystal?

Watch

Someone put a lot of time and effort into this app. Thank you! If you can read and follow instructions then this app is going to work well for you. It does require some tweaking and experimentation to get an accurate reading from your watch. Be patient. You need dead silence. The app is very sensitive and will pick up the slightest sound like creaks in your chair or your joints popping when you get up and walk away. Mine picked up the dog walking around upstairs. I was able to get my SKX to go from loosing 15 seconds a day to loosing 4 seconds a day. I’m very pleased with that. Once you figure out how to use it you’ll want to regulate everything!! Great job on the app! Highly recommend!!
