That sums it.

AspenEve

I use this app daily and tell everyone I meet on the trail about it. The data it provides - at zero cost - is truly remarkable and much appreciated. Fantastic app for hiking, trail running, and planning future hikes. I absolutely love it. Thank you for such a quality product!!!

So your experience may vary depending on what region you are in, but here in Colorado this app has been invaluable for finding new trails to go run. Love it.

WildOak

Great app with good guidance, good info from others, and I love that, once you download the maps, you don’t need a cell data signal to use the app. This is very helpful in remote areas with poor cell service. The app still gives you a live specific and generally accurate location on the screen. That makes it harder to get lost.

Guest

App is great, but would be killer if we had a watch app to track runs, and even better if it could use the map to keep you on track

RambleRo..

I love this app, sending a big thank you to all the folks that have made finding new trails easy peasy!

Dan

Finally a great outdoors app. AllTrails is barely functional, and this app is outstanding. Major props to the UX/UI team, and the developers in general; this is my goto app for any outdoor activity now.

NathanZa..

I am a new trail runner so I have found this app incredibly helpful! I had no idea that there are so many wonderful places to run and this make makes them accessible to everyone! I’m so happy to be able to log my runs, contribute reviews and photos to the community of runners, and get to know the natural beauty of my state. I think running outdoors is going to really help me this year - especially considering that many activities are closed due to the pandemic. Thank you so much to all of those who contributed to the creation of this wonderful app!

Having spent a fair amount of time with the Mountain Project app, I was excited to give this one a go - unfortunately it falls a little flat. It has lots of potential, but it feels like something built by a bunch of people who don’t actually understand the activities their apps are made to support. As a run tracker, it’s pretty awful. Strava, Runkeeper and even AllTrails leave it in the dust. No splits, no elevation mapping, no on-the-go feedback - really nothing besides a stopwatch and a GPS tracker. The ability to download trails for offline use is cool, but not unique. Because the app essentially depends on crowdsourcing for its content, the trail labeling is an absolute disaster. At the best of times, this just leads to confusing, duplicated records of the same trail...at the worst of times it’s just straight up inaccurate. The majority of established trails are named, mapped and maintained by some kind of association - for the life of me, I can’t understand why ANY of these apps haven’t been able to forge relationships that would allow trails to be properly named! It fails on the safety front too. All the big names in the game have a way for you to let your friends and loved ones monitor you in real-time. This is a great feature for solo adventurers (anybody watch 127 Hours lately?). AllTrails and some of the other players out there even have “off trail” warnings that notify you when you’ve strayed too far from your intended route - this is a feature I love when trail running on poorly blazed trails! This app has nothing close to any of these features. So far I haven’t found any of the trail ratings to be accurate, mostly because the ratings themselves are poorly conceived. I’m also confused why the developers have to have all these disparate apps for individual activities, but haven’t built a hub for users to combine their data in a single place? That’s a problem for another day though. Overall this app has a pretty user interface, but lacks the substantive content to make it a player in the market. Maybe the developers will hire some people who actually understand/participate in the activities they’re trying to support and we’ll see improvements in time, but for now, this one is a hard pass.

ShineOnH..

I love how the gps signals your on the map regardless of having phone signal or not, as it’s a GREAT SAFETY FEATURE!! There’s so many maps and profiles of trails to help you understand where you’re headed to and to prepare, along with imbedded driving routes via google maps which is super convenient! I recommend it always to friends, my ShineOnHealth Coaching clients and strangers I meet out on the trails!

Tahmsom

As an avid trail runner, I found it exciting that upon researching the sport, it’s relatively less communicated when compared with others. Less websites, hardly any apps, trails are all geared for hiking. Thankfully it looks like someone took the opportunity to change that, and thankfully it is done very well!

N9908H

The individual trail selection scroll at the bottoms of the screen is absolutely terrible. Pervious versions of the app were significantly better. Go back to the old version!

Booradle..

I like this app a lot, however the latest update basically broke it. I can’t see and trails and when I try and update my state maps it fails. Any idea why this is happening?

Sam12389..

Great app before the update. Now it is nearly unusable. Bummer!

smosue12

This was my favorite app until the recent update. It is now very difficult to navigate when looking at areas with many trail options. Elevation profile used to be much easier to use too. I feel lost without this app so please change it back to the original!!!!

francisc..

I used to use trailrunproject almost exclusively for trail hunting. The new interface is extremely glitchy as well as inaccurate. Bummer that I can’t use it anymore.

Chaz

Hasn’t let me down yet and I appreciate the reviews and knowledge from other folks

406runne..

The latest update doesn’t allow me to pick trails from the map view to view more details even if the are highlighted. You have to click based on the list view and then select. And once I have one trail selected the map view won’t allow you to even see the new trails. Please update or I’ll probably have to delete and just use Trailforks.

ajlark

Love the idea behind this app, and I use it frequently, but it’s so sloppy for the resources REI has. You can’t add photos via the app, which is annoying. Lots of trails are missing/doubled or start/end in the middle of another trial (which might not be the apps fault, but maybe they can link them all together?). Driving directions is super nice, but sometimes they don’t lead to the right spot (again, probably based on poor information given to the app).

dcee8920..

Great app before this new update. The app is a lot slower and crashes often. I’ve tried to simplify the display but no effect.
