MoneyWell : Personal Budgeting

I have worked with the developer of MoneyWell for years, and they are always responsive. The product itself is also fantastic. This is a brand new version with cloud syncing, I know there will be some bumps in the road (and anyone on the existing v3 of MoneyWell continues to receive support), I am really looking forward to the evolution of this product. It is such a great alternative to Quicken. I will never go back!

FINALLY syncs! I've been using Moneywell for over 10 years now to track accounts and transactions in my personal finances, my small business, and my investments. Because of the inability to sync for all those years, I have tried most of the other apps. They all pale in comparison. Moneywell is simply more powerful, more robust, and still intuitive and simple to use. So I've stuck with it in spite of the inability to use it on any device besides the Mac (I really want to be able to enter transactions into my phone when they occur instead of having to do it all at the Mac). Here's the catch with the updated ability to sync. The data is linked to the account the device is signed into, not the App Store sign in. As a result, I am unable to sync the data with my wife, even though we have Family Share. So, the app only gets 4 stars because the sync ability is impractical for fols who are married or share their financial accounts with other people. Once that's updated, this will definitely be a 5 star app!!

I have yet to find a bookeeping program as simple, powerful and straightforward to use. Everyone in my family can easily understand how it works. It is not accounting software. Leaeve that to the accountants!! This is bookeeping sofware that allows you to track income and expenses quickly and easily. Giving you the immediate information you need. I'm SO SO SO happy they have continued development that I'm writing this review. I DO NOT LIKE reviews as they are so subjective. I hope some real journalist reviews them! LOL! TY MW !!

why oh why cant this industry figure out how to make a simple aggregate app to Budget by? i have tried over 55 apps and used quicken for years until it became a joke in the past 5 years. again its usually the same answer these apps cannot auto catorigize catagories or buckets as this one puts it. i download transactions and have over 695 uncatorigzed. im not doing this by hand!! so just another connected app with no real use thanx a lot!!

If you are familiar with the envelope approach to budgeting, this is what you want. If you are not familiar, this is still a great finance tool. It is based on setting up a budget using buckets (envelopes). Each month/week (you set the pay period) your income fills the bucket. Expenses reduce the buckets. Next cycle more is added. What sets Moneywell apart is that the balance carries over. Overspend by $100? You have $100 less the next cycle. Most other budgets only show you month by month so you can't see what you really have to spend (or how much you've overspent). It also does a great job with simple account balances, reconciling, and the usual financial tracking. I've been using Moneywell for over 10 years. There were the dark years when the original developer sold Moneywell to someone else. For whatever reasons Monewell really fell behind. Sync broke and updates stopped happning. Fortunately the new development team has been far better. They fixed the issues, took their time, and got it back to its former greatness. If you see negative reviews out there from the last few years, those days are over.
