Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network

Be prepared to receive emails from literally 38 different categories with no way to turn off all emails at once. You have to literally click off emails 38 separate times!

Terrible app - if you are a conservative. My advice - don’t expose yourself to their toxicity. If I could leave Negative Stars I would!

Next door is the perfect forum for people who believe they have a right of shooting their mouth off without repercussion. They are challenged and then they complain their feelings got hurt and get the responder kicked off for 2 weeks. Either everyone has free speech or no one does can’t be both ways.

This used to be a great app when I had it at my last residence. But now years later it feels like nothing more than a a ‘local Facebook’ with people complaining about politics or trying to sell their mlm crap. No thanks…. That’s why I got rid of Facebook. And after one scroll I deactivated nextdoor for the same reason. Skip this unless you like Facebook.

Instead of being an app where people can learn or keep others updated on what is happening in your area/neighborhood, Nextdoor has become a place for people to continually ask for money. It’s gotten to the point that people have set up Venmo accounts so they can get $$ to take their kids to trampoline parks. Not exactly what I thought I was signing up for when I downloaded this app.

This app is so dangerous I don’t know how they got my neighbors addresses and names and sent them all physical letters in the mail inviting them with my name on it without my permission or invite I deleted and uninstalled this app 2 months prior to this incident .. and before y’all email saying we are sorry keep it ! You used my information and sent out stuff without my permission with my name on it pretending to me be ! No thank you !! Everyone beware !

They sent a letter to my neighbor pretending to be me because I did not opt out. Terrible for building trust!

My name and address was mailed to my neighbors saying I promote this app and invite them all to use it. I’ve only used it once or twice and my likeness was not given permission to be used. Very disgusted by the privacy negligence. Delete this app!

Garbage app from a technical and product perspective. It is barely functional.

I like getting localized info in a feed. But the search, sort, and filter options are critically missing. Also give me to option to see all posts with various filters for neighborhoods, date ranges, topics etc. The algo for the feed is crazy. Top post is in last week and second 33 weeks old 3rd 1 week and 1 week. No way should I see a 33 week old post right now. Again give options to sort this feed by relevance or first post/last post etc

I decided to use a generic ID to maintain some privacy. My neighbor decided to report me and my account was shut down. I contacted support and was told that I needed to send a pic of my driver’s license or a passport to prove myself. This is one way identity theft occurs. I absolutely declined that and asked for another way and was told that is the only way. I didn’t have to show an ID to join and neither does anyone else. I didn’t cause any trouble or harass anyone yet this is how I was treated. I feel this is unfair and extremely shady. I will just join a different app.

Example: 1) you get a notification about a specific post on Nextdoor 2) you tap the notification with the expectation that you will be taken to that post 3) Nextdoor takes you to the feed instead of the specific post 4) good luck finding the post you actually wanted to read 5) get it together Nextdoor. Fire your “developers”. This has been an issue for a ridiculous amount of time

I thought this was just my surrounding neighbors, neighborhood, it’s too large of a range for just neighbors and so many useless posts!

The site administrators will allow their friends to be abusive and disrespectful towards others. They also allow for the sale and “rehoming” of pets witch is clearly not allowed per rules and guidelines.

Recently moved from California to Arizona and can find no way to change location in the app. Spent about a half an hour viewing all options and nowhere. Was there a way to change my location. If they add a process to join a new neighborhood and cancel an old one. I would be willing to change this review.

Next Door will send out letters on your behalf to your entire neighborhood with your full name and stress address. You consent when you sign up, so if you didn’t know it was a feature, and obviously don’t go looking for the off switch, everyone in your neighborhood will know your full name and address. Extremely unsettling thing to come out of passively signing up for an app I never use….

This app is too confusing. And there is noone to contact for help!! I want to join a neighborhood in fla where I am staying for 6 months and it keeps going back to my neighborhood in mn!! Frustrating

I have removed this app after 2 hours. It is full of areas no where near me, sarcastic remarks to each other, and I don’t see the benefit it would be for me.
