Nest App DESCRIPTION

At Google Nest, we make products that are beautiful, helpful and easy to use. The Nest app is no exception.

Control your Nest thermostat, arm and disarm your Nest Secure alarm system, see your home with Nest Cam, and get an alert if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And receive notifications on your iPhone or iPad.

Nest uses sensors, algorithms and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, turning off the heat and turning on the camera when you leave. Forget to set the alarm? It will notice, and send you a Remind Me alert.

– Change the temperature from the subway or the sofa using your phone.
– See how much energy you used, and why.
– View and edit your schedule.

Nest Secure alarm system

The security cameras that let you see your home on your phone, inside and out.

– Get alerts when there’s activity, and talk back to get someone’s attention.

– See what you missed with snapshots of the last three hours.
– Check in 24/7 with crisp 1080p HD video (Nest Cam and Dropcam Pro only).
– Get person alerts (or familiar face alerts with Nest Cam IQ) and up to 30 days of video history when you subscribe to Nest Aware. (Subscription service sold separately.)

Nest Hello

Know who’s knocking.

– 24/7 video streaming means you’ll never miss a moment.

– Knows the difference between a person and a thing.
– Notifies you about visitors, even if they don’t ring the bell.
– HD Talk and Listen lets you have a seamless conversation with someone at your door.
– When you can’t answer the door, quick responses let you reply to visitors with prerecorded audio messages.

Nest x Yale Lock

The lock for a more secure connected home.

– Instead of sharing keys, assign passcodes to people you trust in the Nest app.
– Get an alert when someone locks or unlocks the door.
– With Home/Away Assist and Auto-Lock, your door can lock itself when you leave.

This app is down the tubes. Worthless.

JishGobb

This is by far the slowest app I use and one that should be the quickest. I have 2 gb fiber and it takes 30-45 seconds for the app to show the camera after someone rings the doorbell. This should be happening in less than 5 seconds. By the time I can check who it is, they’re gone. I wish Google would either kill this app or keep working on it.

Just like the title says. Why can’t someone walk me through this. They used to have live people to walk you through things.

Roslyne7..

It’s extremely slow, the video quality dropped way off, it doesn’t communicate to the door bell chime inside the house anymore so I can’t hear it when I’m home, only chimes to my phone and by then it’s to late the person has already left. It doesn’t play back video on the app anymore. Sometimes I don’t even get a picture or who rang the bell. It doesn’t recognize people anymore either. I can’t talk to people through it anymore either because they can barely hear it and the delay is so bad. If I could I’d give it zero out of five stars.

I know what I want as far as settings go. I don’t need a device to decide what I need. If I hadn’t been given this as a present I would have thrown it out after week one. It will soon “fail” so I can get a user friendly thermostat.

Mr

Can’t customize the temperature sensor schedule. There are hundreds of posts describing this issue online. And nothing has changed for years!

Up

Either this is broken or I don’t know how to use it but we’re constantly changing the temperature to match what we need. Plus at night we wake up and it’s in the 50s. That’s just a little too cool.

My experience with Nest device has been awful. They do have a good intention with the whole device recognition when you get home, echo option for when you are away and temperature routing pattern for when you are home. But If anybody ask me, unless they are my worst enemy, I’d say DEFINITELY DON’T BUY NEST! First I bought it for my cabin in NH, less then a month later it didn’t work anymore because of battery. I tried to recharge it for the whole day while freezing with the cold temperature in the house and the freaking device didn’t want to charge. I bought a wire to have it connected to the outlet while on the wall. Didn’t work. I called an electrician to try on wire it. Paid for their visit and they said it doesn’t work properly for my cabin heating system. So I brought it for my house in Boston and now I thought it had to work because I’m there all the time and I can keep my eyes on it and do whatever it takes to work. Didn’t take too long for me to get disappointed. The preview electrician said it was supposed to recharge by itself with the system we have in Boston. Perhaps that it worked for a month or less. And it stopped working exactly during the holidays when I was away from my house for 3 weeks. And yes, I came home for a frozen house because it run out of battery on the Nest device exactly when I was away, when it was supposed to recharge automatically with my system. It was a very close call to have the pipes in my house busted. I hate this device! And I won’t recommend it to anybody in good conscious of their mind. Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts and feelings. However I do hope you guys can improve on the battery charging system. It’s a shame such a nice device can create so much trouble with the it is. Rita

This is the 3rd time in 3 months that we’ve had a false alarm go off. “THERE IS A FIRE IN THE BEDROOM! THE ALARM WILL SOUND IT IS LOUD!!!” And there’s no fire. No smoke. Middle of the day this time, thank God, but no one is even cooking or anything. I checked the app, all green. I had one replaced already because it wouldn’t stop false alarming and now I have to replace more?! Seriously?! I’m going to replace them all with regular smoke alarms I’m so sick of this.

Joby22

Now we can’t trust this device, keep going offline.

Does not work well, stop working.

I’ve owned different variations of the Nest app, and various products over the years. The truth is, every product I owned of nest’s has drastically underperformed much less expensive versions of their competitors that I eventually switched to. Whether it be the nest thermostat, or nest cameras, or the app itself, I found the alternatives much better, and at a fraction of the monthly fee (if any). If all that weren’t enough, the fact that nest app made me go through “help us make sure it’s you” and answer 3 questions, then email a code, then verify my birthday, etc. every other time I used the app, it’s a joke. I’m trying to adjust my thermostat not conduct top secret business… no more Nest anything for me. The products are subpar, the fees are dramatically more than others, and the experience on the app is horrible.

Powcow

App loses connection and restarts repeatedly while I am trying to view cameras or change settings on the thermostat. I would understand a delay, or a spinning wheel if connection was slow, but to have the app completely restart is very annoying. It feels like I am racing against the restart to get anything done in the nest app. Is it because I use the free version?

Tango

If you don’t pay for the service it is crap. The camera is continually going off line and takes forever to show you anything. It was a waste of $600. Next time I will try a different manufacturer.

Pokeh123

Whenever I get a doorbell ring it takes about a minute to connect. I have good internet with a good connection to the doorbell. Sometimes it doesn’t load at all and sits there telling me how long it’s been since the bell rang. Finally whenever there’s video history it’ll just sit there loading and will never actually play the video.

New

Change router password for security? Expect a nightmare of starting from ground zero and removing then reinstalling each single devise one by one. What on earth is the point of the app!?
