App REVIEWS
I tried syncing and it didn’t work so I tried signing out, but now I can’t sign in…
I wish this app was more user friendly, more easily able to “fix” the glitches like not allowing me to log in occasionally, update automatically and not block you out when it decides to. I’m a member of a bishopric and have become very frustrated with this app.
Auto update or in app update still does not work. I have to delete the application and reinstall it for updates to actually work. Also, members who have moved out will still show up in other areas of the ward showing in the “members without callings” report. Great for the app and I use it daily but there are a lot of bugs that have been persistently plaguing the app since its inception with seemingly little to no focus on fixing them.
It keeps telling me incorrect password even though I changed it multiple times
Consistent crashing. Syncs do not work. Signing in fails and so a reset of the password is requires. Resetting the password takes 12 hours to register. Tried to contact support and needed to sign in to contact them, which obviously isn’t possible because of the need to rest the password. The workflow isn’t working, there are often failures in buttons, a request to sync. I am often stuck in “update” or “sync” mode. Nothing is improving. And as I have moved I still cannot get in (1 month later) to find a ward and times. Additionally, there should be an option for me, as a user and member, to request my records to be moved - and it should be automated. I shouldn’t have to find a local priesthood leader, which I cannot identify because I can’t find a ward because the app doesn’t work, to get my records moved. It’s record movement, not furniture moving. This really should work better.
Please, please, please fix the bugs in the app! This app is so important to helping me do my calling and I can’t even log in anymore. A pop up comes up saying “member tools services unavailable”. It’s inconvenient to have to log on to the church website every time I need to do anything in relation to my calling. Please fix this soon!!!
Every time I try to sign in it says there’s an error
TIRED of having to actually delete the app every time I want to sync. Across multiple of my devices, then there’s the older folks in the ward who think they’re doing something wrong because it give them the message about syncing or you’ll get logged out, but then says it can’t sync and eventually becomes worthless. Amazing that deleting and re-installing IMMEDIATELY allows syncing again (for a while). It’s like working on Windows (except I don’t have to reinstall iOS). When it works, it’s a great time saver compared to the church website (which is non-standards compliant and fails all over the leader tools section if you don’t use Chrome — but doesn’t tell you that: just seems like it doesn’t work). Anyway. Good idea, but something fundamentally wrong with this app.
I have never written a review before but this app has compelled me too because of how dysfunctional it is. I have now deleted and re-downloaded this app 12 times over the past few months. Being in a calling that I have to rely on this app it is frustrating that we can’t get a functional app. Obviously this is no reflection of the church. This app is just incredibly frustrating, and the people who run this app need to address these persistent problems. Finally, once I re-downloaded it for the 12th time it will not let me log in, so now I am unable to use it at all.
Most glitchy app on an iPhone!
The app tends to crash and I’ve had to delete and reinstall it. Otherwise i find it useful
I wish wish wish that I could pay tithing/make donations and also make temple appointments from the app. Also, would be so helpful to have a feature for “request an appointment with your bishop” so you don’t have to figure out who to contact, especially as a member in a new branch
This app was great. But then over time the syncing issues became more and more a problem. Now the app doesn’t work for me at all. As soon as you sign in, it just perpetually tries to update and never gets any information. It’s frustrating also because there seems to be no acknowledgement by the Church that they are even aware of this issue. Puzzling, considering it is so ubiquitous.
Overall I think this app is great! I think it does a great job when it comes to contacting members and finding peoples numbers in my ward, which I find is very necessary at times. It also is a really great tool when I want to see who the new people in the ward are and their names so I don’t constantly ask them “hey, sorry what’s your name again?” I just look it up haha. A few things I think would make it better are 1. I often find that I need to find someone from another stake but I don’t have access to the stakes around me, it would be infinitely more convenient if I could see as far as the stakes in the area around me to be able to contact people in those wards as well. 2. Another thing is age, it has been very difficult for me to figure out who people in my ward are when they don’t have a picture or ages on this app. I know that only a few people can access age but I feel that it is a very important identification tool and would help immensely if everyone could see age and birthday (even if it’s just for individual wards). These are just a few things I would suggest. Thanks for keeping these in mind!
For months this app has, without fail, failed to sync. Now it won’t even let me log in anymore. No amount of setting changes or deleting/reinstalling has addressed the issue. The Church needs to step its game up, this is unacceptable.
Wasn’t long ago that we had to rely on printed sheets of paper that we had to request and update often.
Every single time I open the app, I have to deal with a pop-up, saying: You must update/sync info by (date, some weeks from now).. Options: "Sync now," or "Sign out." WHY don't we get an option of, "Later," ??? In that moment, I'm on a course to complete a task. Please just allow me to find the info, contact the person, and move on.. PLEASE just set up a "Later" button, or "Remind me next time"? Instead of boxing me into a corner, with only two options.. BOTH of which mean, "You'll have to wait, before you can get your desired information." Grrr!
GREAT app, very easy to use, with everything at your fingertips. Very helpful to those in leadership or especially to newcomers who are looking to get better acquainted with ward members. TWO KEY SUGGESTIONS for improving this app and its user-friendliness would be these: 1. Make SURE each ward and/or branch has a spot listed in the app where it has (1), the chapel's physical address listed; (2), the hall phone or bishop's office phone number; (3), that the start times are clearly listed, to include new start times in January if the ward shares the building and they are changing starting times; and (4), that the address also be accessible by touch to a map screen...and... 2. One other issue I've brought up before merits repetition, regarding the issue of data updates. If you live in Canada or the United States, please DO NOT attempt to do updates between about 9:00 pm Saturday night and about noon Monday local time. This is when the Church's servers are busiest (Sundays) as clerks are not only processing donations, but also updating who holds what callings, who was recently baptized, ordained, moved in or out of the ward, etc.. If you try to call during some of these times, you may on occasion get an error message. That's the Church's way of saying 'take two aspirin and call me in the morning.' In response to those who have inquired about other (perhaps nearby) stakes being added to access through LDS Tools, forget about it. Church Headquarters wisely restricted that previously for good reason; not only is it against Church policy, it's neither practical nor appropriate as members wisely and carefully value their privacy a great deal. This is especially for social reasons and also as a means of handling those who can't take a hint to 'get lost' (be they male or female) and pursue those who prefer to be left alone...(read: pests and/or potential stalkers). With privacy flags in place on my contact information BY MY CHOICE, if I want another member to have my contact info, they can ask me for it, and if their need for it is legitimate, only THEN do I share it with them. Remember — sadly — not everyone who claims to be your friend is really your friend, and in the past, ward lists have been used for commercial, political and other improper purposes such as mailing lists as well, so PLEASE, PLEASE...be careful in what you share and with whom... Something else needs to be remembered in all this: The data here is only as good as what members provide to their clerks and/or leaders, so if there are changes, PLEASE let them know so timely updates can be done. All in all, a practical, functional and essential app, especially to those serving in ward and/or stake leadership. Nice improvements made here; looking forward to seeing more of what lies ahead. *** UPDATE FROM VERSION 2.5.0: The release of version 2.5.0 has been the coming to fruition of a lot of hard work - both of the full-time staff - as well as the volunteer beta testers who've 'kicked the tires' and 'road tested' this release at various stages in its development. SPECIAL ADDITIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS: With far more capabilities than before, members are now empowered to see their full IOS (Individual Ordinance Summary) detailing their complete listing of ordinances (baptism, confirmation, priesthood ordinations if male), as well as their marriage information if married, and their parentage, date and place of birth for purposes of their personal family history, and now their previous unit (ward/branch). This makes it much easier on both members, as well as ward clerks and bishopric members, so as to reduce both time and paperwork in printing out an IOS that can now be viewed here in the app. Leaders will continue to have broader access to and within LDS Tools, based on, commensurate with the need for access as directed by their ward or stake calling. All in all, a giant leap forward, as LDS Tools gets even better and better for one and all involved! ***
When viewing the Birthday List from Reports, it only shows birthdays in 2021 that are in December. It also shows birthdays that next will occur in January of 2022. Everything else is missing in the app, though they do show up on LCR in the Birthday List report. They also show up fine in the Android app (I have both device types). The bug just seems to be here in the iPhone app. Thank you!
There have been problems for me accessing the list of members in my ward for several weeks now and as the membership clerk in my ward this creates severe issues with my ability to fulfill my responsibilities. Can’t sync, logging out and back in doesn’t help, deleting and reloading the app doesn’t help… can’t sync on WiFi or cellular either.
