Learn to meditate or deepen your meditation practice with Mary Maddux, a leading meditation teacher who has brought meditation to thousands of people worldwide. Her guided meditations have been used in many settings – businesses, hospitals, clinics, military, rehabilitation, schools, spas – and are regularly recommended by doctors and therapists to their patients.

The beautiful music on the app has been composed by Richard Maddux, musician and and co-creator of the Meditation Oasis® apps. Richard’s music is known for its ability to bring deep relaxation and support the meditative state. You can use it as a background to the meditations or you can enjoy the music on its own. You also have the option of using high quality nature sounds

In response to user requests, we have combined the best of all our apps and programs into one comprehensive meditation app. Our original Simply Being app is here, along with over 80 additional guided meditations and three programs.

I can’t begin to tell you how often I used this app over the years when having panic and anxiety attacks (recommended by my therapist for its simplicity). It’s been my go to, and even the icon was relatively relaxing because when I was frantically looking to open the app the image of the calm person brought me back into focus. Now everything has changed, the icon, the name, the format. I almost deleted it because I thought someone had hacked my phone and installed something, hesitant to open it. For the developers to keep responding with “just ignore the other content if you don’t want to subscribe” is a little off-putting. If you don’t suffer from anxiety and panic disorder you can’t possibly appreciate the simplicity that the other app design brought and to change all of that and just say get over it is pretty insulting. It’s NOT the same no matter how many times they tell you it is and now I find myself just annoyed and distracted by all of the other money grab stuff that’s right in front of your face when you open the app. Any normal person is going to want to click and see what else is there. I’m disappointed in their change of direction but more disappointed that they keep responding to reviews with “get over it” and not considering what their users experience was and how it comforted many like myself, before the changes and now hiding any potential improvements behind a paywall. The other stuff that I can’t afford is now just a distraction which defeats the whole purpose!! Eh, I think they’ve lost me.

Simply Being is the best guided meditation I have ever used, and I’m grateful that it is still accessible at no additional cost. This alone makes this a 5-star app. I’ve been using Meditation Oasis apps for several years, and I was concerned that they may not continue to receive updates (and that they may not be compatible with future versions of iOS). Therefore, I am glad to see Meditation Oasis adopt the subscription model (most users do not understand the ongoing costs involved for developers to update apps with new features and to keep them compatible with ongoing OS updates). All functionality in simply being is gone. There isn’t even an option to buy the old simply being as an upgrade. I’ve been using this app for years and LOVED it, the new version is so disappointing.

This could be a stellar program yet for $49.00 a year the price alone is stressful enough that you will need to meditate. Unfortunately, unless you subscribe you only receive 3 short meditations! The sleep meditation is only 3 min long and I don’t know about you if I am having trouble sleeping I need more than 3 minutes to relax enough to get to sleep. I understand that developers want to make a profit so I can see giving some basis high quality offerings and then upselling for variety or in depth courses yet the model this team has currently implemented will backfire and they will end up losing money. Personally, in these financially difficult times paying $49.00 a year for a meditation program is a luxury I choose not to afford when there are so many therapeutic offerings like John Moyers and others on youtube for free so I will NOT be subscribing and ultimately will probably delete the entire program to free up hard drive space on my ipad.

I’ve been using Simply Being almost every day for 10 years. It was clear cut and easy to use. No bells and whistles to wade through. Easy to adjust voice and background volume with separate sliders. Now there’s only a single ineffective slider. This app is like all the others with siloed meditations and paywalls. I might as well use Calm or Insight Timer. Very upset and disappointed with the update!

My therapist actually recommended this app to me, as she used it herself, and I love it! It’s simple and easy to use while also having everything you need to customize the aspects based on your preferences.

When I was going through family health issues with my mother and stepdad, I found it so hard to be peaceful. When I was staying at my moms, I played this app every night and it is what quieted me down and let me sleep . I shared it with my husband and he enjoys it also.

For me personally, her voice has been the calm, reflective, reassuring, waters during some very turbulent times for me. I’ve been listening to several other of their guided meditation apps for several years now. I tried many others I keep coming back. Thank you Mary. THANK YOU ‼️❣️☯️🕉♒️🌀♾

I’ve had this app for many years. I love the simplicity, it makes meditation actually happen for me. You don’t have to click a bunch of buttons to figure out how to use the app and the UI is not overly complicated. Just open, set your desired time and get straight to meditation. I really appreciate that it hasn’t changed over the years to whatever fad is currently happening it’s all about easy meditation.

Updated 6 years ago?!?! Nobody’s home. I refuse to support an app that does not support their app by leaving a dead email address for “support.” I also learned that the danger of a phone being hacked increases with apps with no maintenance. Don’t reward this slouch.

I’ve been using this app for a decade now- about time I got on to give it 5 stars! I’ve listened to it on headphones on a plane with mint tea, and in bed on speaker before going to sleep. Love the length of the meditation, the soothing voice, the gentle rain patter background. Always feel more relaxed after listening.

I have been using Simply Being for several years now. I love this app. I have tried a few different wellness apps, and both for meditation and for sleep this one is my favorite. It is simple. It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles. Just the way I like it.
