CosmoCalc App DESCRIPTION

CosmoCalc is a simple cosmological distance calculator. With a simple and intuitive interface you can quickly set a reference cosmology and redshift, and CosmoCalc will calculate a full suite of astronomical distances and scales.

CosmoCalc is a useful and educational reference tool for astronomers, astronomy students, and anybody interested in calculating the distance to astronomical sources.

CosmoCalc allows you to:
* Select cosmological parameters H_0, Ω_m, and Ω_Λ with simple touch-screen controls
* Easily choose from common reference cosmologies, including Planck 2013, WMAP9, Concordance, and Einstein-deSitter
* Quickly determine the luminosity distance, angular diameter distance, lookback time, age of the Universe, comoving volume, and critical density
* Easily switch between flat and non-flat cosmologies by clicking on the chain

Armillary is a handy astronomical application for measurement and recording specific times, locations and movement of the Sun and the stars, based on a Ptolemaic model. With this app, we can easily determine the time and position of sunrise and sunset, the length of a day, the altitude of the sun at different times of the year and the position of celestial objects. This 3-dimensional Armillary app reconstructs the ancient armillary sphere with the help of modern technology. The ancient device, believed to be first invented around 200 B.C., had been in use for over 2,000 years in history. FEATURES • This modern-day counterpart can be displayed in any scale and rotated by any angle. • You can make desired measurements by making relevant adjustment of the “Meridian”, “Equator”, “Horizon”, “Ecliptic” and “Altitude” on the app. USER CONTROLS • Touch-screen rotation – Gently swipe or slide fingers for desired rotation of armillary sphere rings • Swipe-touch panel – Swipe fingers on the display panel for desired movement of armillary sphere rings • Pinch-to-zoom – Use index finger and the thumb..

This simple simulator shows how space and time behave at relativistic velocities. It was developed as a pedagogical tool as part of a master's dissertation at the Federal University of Espírito Santo. Thus, it does not take into account the acceleration effects of the spacecraft. It was developed in a partnership between Prof Thiéberson Gomes (UFES), Prof Flávio Gimenes (UFES) and student Luiz Henrique Gobbi, with computational support Rodrigo Marques.

You won’t have to carry around a bulky program book when you attend a meeting organized by the American Astronomical Society. Our meeting app puts the entire program in your pocket and ensures that it’s fully up to date! It lets you search for sessions by keyword, browse by time or session type, and create your own itinerary. You can search the exhibitor directory and speaker list, find your way around using our interactive venue maps and floor plans, upload photos to a shared gallery, and communicate with fellow attendees (and swap contact information) right through the app. It’s fully integrated with Twitter and Facebook too!

Developed to train myself, this is a valuable App for those who want to become better with their slide rules—or even those who just want some practice with mental arithmetic estimation—RuleCoach is both a coach and a proctor that aims to improve your speed and accuracy with your slide rule. Exams cover a wide range of scales found across many rules, and includes helpful instructions that will guide you in calculating solutions! Includes a unique calculation error metric calibrated to the linear misalignment of the physical components in addition to traditional calculation error percentages.

Python is one of the world’s most popular programming languages. In honor of this Polemics Applications created this study guide for new programmers. Python Tutorial and Flashcards is a basic introduction to Python syntax. This app displays the most common Python Syntax for beginners and quick reference. We display the material in several different ways to aid in memorization, study and quick use. In this app you’ll find: *A syntax dictionary with 37 entries in full color covering topics like lists, sets, key words, and console printing. *Flashcards displaying a syntax statement followed by the actual syntax in action. *A Glossary & Key Words in the All Terms section *A multiple choice quiz to test your knowledge *Links out to long form wikipedia articles on Python history, syntax and semantics

Amazing cosmic microwave background all-sky maps on your iPhone and iPad! This app allows you to see and compare different generations of CMB fluctuations. It includes 4K resolution all-sky COBE/WMAP/Planck CMB maps and allows you to zoom in and scroll around for map details. You can choose to view a single map, or compare multiple maps by tilting your device. A sky reference map is also included to show the galactic coordinates, notable Milky Way components, and microwave point sources. Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is the afterglow radiation from the Big Bang. Its temperature is extremely uniform, but with tiny fluctuations as you will see in these maps.

In 1992, COBE satellite made the first detection of the CMB fluctuations. The following WMAP and Planck mission were able to scan the sky at better and better resolution. The successes of these CMB observations have provided us great understanding of the Universe over the last decades. Check the Wikipedia page for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_microwave_background This app is designed and made by Qingqing Mao at Vanderbilt University for the purposes of astronomy..

Nimrodel..

A very handy and useful tool for cosmological calculations. It would be more interesting if we can add nonzero curvature and radiation terms. Also the (as of now) hypothetical term with w=-2/3 should be added for fun.

Alexey

Great tool, I loved it immediately. One important lacking feature is that it doesn't output E(z).

Very esoteric for most, but for the educated layman interested in cosmology, this a a really cool tool. V2.2 seems to have lost the ability to unchain the total mass/energy sum. Do we have to take as fact that Omega is equal 1?
