App REVIEWS
I’m not finding how to create a account?
I purchased this app. It tells me I need to add family tree vault but no where does it show me that access or tell me how to access the vault. No explanation, nothing..so money flushed ?
If you don’t use the paid subscription to Tree Vault you will not be able to use this app. Being a read only app really didn’t bother me but once I installed this it said it needed my Tree Vault login. I choose not to use Tree Vault because I don’t want to pay for its concept.
It is just a list of names. Not possible to edit, search, etc.
Doesn’t even sync
This is useless if it can’t use the most current version of the tree I select. It is using a tree that I no longer have on my laptop.
I have not used FTM connect yet but on first glance it is what I wanted. I have carried a sheaf of papers into European archives to guide my search for primary source material. They don’t allow laptops in but they do allow phones. I’ll adjust my rating if necessary after I use it on a research trip. But given the high quality of laptop FTM I doubt I’ll have to. To those who expect to have the full FTM on their phone, really? Have you thought that through?
As others noted, there is no way to change the tree. It is stuck with my original tree....which is out of date. I deleted app, added it back and still it isstuck with old tree...which btw I deleted on my desktop. So I am very concerned they’re keeping my private data and who knows what they are doing with it.
The app is merely a convenience for those who wish to “show and tell” their tree as a conversation maker. Other than that the app has no relevancy or utility. You are unable to add or edit any information in the FTM CONNECT app. Developers, please remedy this situation.
There are no instructions how to change the latest version of FTM you are using on your laptop to use on FTM Connect! Once you start using a tree on FTM Connect you are stuck with it.
This app has been nice to use as a companion app to FTM 2019. But: I would like to see more fields from the full app migrated here and the relationship calculation as well - since this is the number one question I’m asked when family gets together... “How are you related to my uncle Henry so-and-so?” It would be nice to open FTM connect... search Henry so-and-so... and see he’s my 1st cousin 2x removed...
I don’t mind that FTM Connect is read only—this permits family sharing without anyone editing my database. I like the info tab that includes earliest and most recent births, average lifespan, etc. However, navigation is clunky and the data displayed are limited. To see any useful information (for example: relationships, facts, locations, sources) I have to go to my MacBook and use FTM 2019, which renders FTM Connect mostly useless. I am especially disappointed that I have found no way to see relationships in FTM Connect, and this is one of the most frequent things I search. Unless Mackiev updates FTM Connect to access and display much more information, I definitely won’t pay for a subscription once the free membership expires. After all, “Connect” suggest that one is able to connect to the entire FTM database.
App is pretty basic and very similar to Ancestry one if you use that. FTM connect however, will cost you when trial expires. On the other hand, since connect, Ancestry sync stays Orange with big warning not to sync again if it fails (it does) so looks like your forced to use connect now.
This app works just fine - lightweight fast, and easy to use. BIG issue: datafields you may have marked as Private are fully displayed in this app! This is over-sharing and needs to be fixed pronto. Also, no way to print or copy anything - this app is read-only, which, given the lack of security is probably a blessing... [10 /2019]
