Game REVIEWS

riginalH..

It keeps giving me an error when I try to bring up all my characters so now I can’t play the game with any of my characters for any builds I’ve been doing

Magic

The person who said stats are required to be 70-80+ is being generous. You will see checks for 100 in multiple stats by endgame. Magic specialists will struggle to pass the endgame gauntlet without a bad ending. Blades/Archery experts should make it through readily if they maxed their key stats, and Unarmed specialists are midway between Blades/Archery and Magic. Stats such as Strength, Agility, and Endurance will contribute greatly to success... and tend to be raised by martial training, not so much by magical training. Oops. Have fun trying to fend off ravenous demons with your sterling grasp of Geography. That said, IF you can pass the checks, it’s a fun romp with a suitably high-power and high-stakes conclusion. The ‘successful’ endings DO make reference to your choices all throughout the trilogy. It’s just... getting there is hard, and may (?) be impossible for some. I strongly advise looking up a guide.

Jantoenb..

This series is incredible. I loved playing every second of it, and I plan to do about 10,000 more playthroughs. The ending is so satisfying, and the epilogue wraps up all loose ends in a neat little bow (I got the hero ending so this may be different for other endings). I’d recommend this series to anyone who want to put their own twist on a hero and write their own story.

Prine

I loved the first 2 games the character development and adventure aspects were great. I ignored the bad reviews and got the game because how bad could it be if it started out so promising? I’m not sure what happened but the writing and plot really just fell apart. I’ve been trying for months to finish but truthfully I’d rather replay the other games than force my way through such heavy handed prose. Save your money and use your imagination.

ladygl4z..

After all the hard work and frustrations with high stat checks and replays to do better, that's the ending we get? Wow. What a let down. I feel like I wasted my time with this trilogy. I won't ever play it again. Uninstalled.

Though a game with such an expansive class variety may lack the individual details of a linear class system, the benefit of Lost Heir is the fact it has so many options. My suggestion, make a new series same universe; such as being the son or daughter of the player king/Queen. As a result your choices are passed on to them, class, vampirism or otherwise to a limited degree. Though the antagonist in the game can be a god rather than a mortal, after all the demon realm is similar to the divine realm. Why not a war between the heavens and hell, good and evil gods? It would be fitting the heir of the lost heir ascend to greater heights or stop a greater threat. Though that is just my thoughts. Improvements, the only improvements I can suggest; make the classes have more involvement in the story. Possibly a unique companion based on each class not just a follower. If the heir was a vampire lord, a vampire companion and more vampire related options. If a necromancer, a undead or other necromantic companion / encounters. A druid, a... you get the point. There are a lot of classes, which is amazing, I love it, now it's time to refine a bit more than add too the list of classes. Rather than doubling the classes, 1/4 more but over all more detail with the current and additional classes. So it feels less of you are the heir and have these abilities. Instead you are the (class) heir with (class) effecting the entire story rather than at determined moments. (I do understand that is a massive undertaking having to revise the story to follow each classes unique style and possibilities.)

Eli52845..

Skill checks are far too high. Need all skills and knowledge to be at 75-80+ in order to have a good ending, and you can only gain levels in your skills by selecting correct ones. Meaning you can't level skills that don't pass checks. This makes it so that any skill coming into the game less than a 50-60, you really can't use. Not to mention you need a multitude of the hidden artifacts. If you specialized in something in the first two games, and let other attributes slack a bit, then congratulations, you win a terribly depressing conclusion to an otherwise excellent series.

Ultrawar..

So the ending I got was enormously disappointing and, on top of all of that, the ending is something you can't prepare for as it introduces new game mechanics at the last minute that you've never seen yet. It leads you to get the worst ending. Lazy writing and I regret buying the game.

kimanito

Loved the game as I loved the others. However the high requirements for success is unwieldy. Please update soon.

Dudethe4..

Like many others I really enjoyed the first 2 games of the trilogy, but I didn't enjoy the 3rd game really at all to be honest. The choices required such high skills the game really devolved into a choiceless game. Either pick the option that you have the highest skill in or fail. Doubled with the bad game design of only successful skill checks gain skill points, it means you are locked into whatever you are already good at with little chance to improve your weaker skills.

Nyanpill..

The lost heir series has been one of the pinnacle of the CoG series. Great choices, character development, and a wide array of paths to take...which all end in nothing. This is by far the worst of the three games, with a dead end conclusion no matter one's choices, depressing stat mechanics and a general disregard for any of the valuable assets that made the previous games what they were.

Terminat..

This game needs a update. Every time I finish a story I have to delete and reinstall the game to play again. There are few glitches I have run into and the side story doesn't mix at all with the main story like it did in book 2. So In my opinion book 2 is the best and 3 is the worst of its series.

Rzavisca

The first two games were fairly enjoyable, but it seems like some sadistic, ham-handed writer took the reins for this one. Sky-high stats and skills are required in an impossibly wide variety. Relationships with companions are insignificant. Corruption and destruction of everything of value are built into the plodding script of events. And the depressing ending appeared arbitrary and pointless. I was a moment away from saving the day when I was yanked inexplicably into a pathetic and hopeless sequence of events. If a failed ending was the result of losing all health, or morale, or poor judgments, that would at least make some sense. It genuinely feels like the writer's main goal was to crush the hopes of the player. Save your time (and money, with the pumped-up price for a pathetically worse game) and avoid this one.

pmacaula..

Whole trilogy is fulfilling from first page to last.

Dopplgan..

I love how many times you can replay the game and find new character traits in different story lines. I have played this game instead of studying way too often but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's the best. Only problem is that I can't seem to be able to branch into shadow magic!

Mrjcury

I absolutely love this author and loved this trilogy, however this last part fell short of my expectations. I really disliked the epilogue after going through all that the epilogue was a real letdown. Overall a great trilogy and I really hope to see more from this author.

draw514

I loved this story, and have been looking forward to the final piece of the trilogy for some time. The experience has been marred by many grammatical errors and glitches. (SPOILER) After the royal wedding when the heir is kidnapped, I tried to search for tracks, as my character is a level 4 Ranger. There was a glitch that said Character_Knows_Location, but it then said I could find no tracks and that it required a Ranger level of 2. Please fix the many errors for a 5 star rating!

Unidraco..

Not a game for those unwilling to play the story over and over. Difficult but fun. I've played over 30 times! Found many ending...all too short...but over all amazing game and effort.

ZooberDu..

Written by one guy, but very intensive and immersive, this game is highly entertaining. Have replayed it multiple times, as well as the first two of the trilogy. Highly recommended, keep it up Lucid.

HiddenWo..

My biggest complaint is that through the first two, you're encouraged to specialize in certain skills, but in this one, a lot of things require you to have a wide arrangement of skills. If you went full knight like I did with one save, you're not gonna get a good ending.
